Ok, so let me start this post off by saying that I didn't want to spend another post talking about MJ, but it's my blog, so I shall. I also want to preface this by stating that, yes the media coverage on MJ's death is overkill. Did we really need his memorial/celebration of life/funeral on EVERY major network live?? I'm just as tired and annoyed by the coverage as the next man, but I also understand why. We live in an age where news travels in seconds and there are countless media outlets ready to scoop the next story in order to get eyeballs to their websites/channels all so Procter & Gamble can sell you more crap you don't need.
The fact is that a lot of people were affected by MJ's music and were HUGE fans. It's no different than a Yankee or Redsox or Charger fan growing up with the team and following them. It becomes a part of their lives and does anyone really think that the Redsox, Yankees or Chargers really give two flips about us? Of course they don't, but as long as the debit card is approved for tickets and beer and jerseys, they're happy. But we continue to follow these teams because it makes us feel good to be able to root for something or celebrate a championship (even though most of the nation is overweight and couldn't make it through a light walkthrough with any of these teams) like we had something to do with it and we did, we cheered our asses off and drank beer through the good times and bad, damn it!
Well, a lot of people were MJ fanatics and his death was like your hometown team leaving you in the middle of the night and now your city is teamless. You're going to mourn a little bit and maybe even shed a few tears. MJ was much bigger than some sports team to a lot of people and media outlets know this. So they give the masses what they want...more MJ coverage.
But my post isn't about them, it's about the people complaining about the MJ coverage. Put a sock in it already! Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to watch the coverage on TV. Here's an idea, turn the TV off! "But it's on the Internet too!" Last time I checked a computer has an on/off switch too...use it! But don't waste your breath complaining about it, that makes you part of the problem. Also, don't disregard people that are mourning (even if you think it's stupid) MJ because, why do you care? Are they coming up to you and asking you to cry with them or asking for YOUR shoulder to cry on? Stop bitching, it's annoying.
The only complaint I feel IS valid is the fact that taxpayers here in CA are paying (at least part of) for that memorial service yesterday at the Staples Center. But we got what we deserved when other people (not me, I voted for whoever else ran against him) voted for Arnold's lame ass as our governor and made us the laughing stock of the nation. I'd rather have Sarah Palin running this state, yeah I said it!
So, in closing, stop whining about MJ coverage (yes, I know you have freedom of speech, but can't it be used more creatively?) and maybe the media will stop covering it so much. There are other things going on in the world.
That is all, I have work to do.
P.S. For both of you wondering where the latest chapter of The Court Chronicles is, we took a holiday for the 4th and will be back with a new chapter this Friday. Take this time to catch up if you feel so inclined to.

Amen to that!
Its about time someone said it! It bothers me that most of the people saying that is a lot of the teenagers. They have NO IDEA what it felt like to grow up with this music while he was still alive while he was at the top. Not just listening to him on an "80's" station or watching Thriller on MTV. My family grew up with him too. So we all bond on that level. Its not like Britney died. My mom could care less. Anyway I feel the same.
ooookay, please make this fridays chapter looong && juicy, how bout i can't get over there not being one on friday, hahaha. && yeah r.i.p MJ, my older sister said she cried, && i think she's a freak, i'm 19 so yeaaa i think it's really sad regardless that i don't have a strong bond for the man, && yeaa i love the blog novella.
