Ed Hochuli You Suck!!

So I get home Sunday afternoon and am pumped because I have the Chargers-Broncos game on my DirecTV DVR (by the way, DirecTV just made a deal with TiVo to offer their satellite boxes once again and it's a good thing because I miss my TiVo®). Anyway, I start the playback of the game and am enjoying a pretty good game, except for the fact that the Chargers defense is stinking up the joint! At half time we're getting spanked 31-17, but we have a whole half of football to play. The second half starts and we come back and score 13 unanswered points.

The score's 31-30 with 5:30 to play in the 4th quarter and Antoine Cason intercepts Jay Cutler in the end zone! We have a chance to take the lead. On the ensuing drive on 2nd and 6, Rivers hits Sproles (who's in for LT who's on the bench at this point nursing a toe...don't even get me started on this, he was my #1 pick in fantasy football and has paid zero return so far, but there's still a lot of football to be played) who torches the Broncos defense for 66yds and a touchdown! We get the 2 point conversion and are up 38-31 with a little over 2 min to go in the game.

This is when things go downhill; our defense was soft again and the Broncos drove all the way to our 1 yd line and set up for an automatic game tying touchdown. Cutler drops back and the ball slips out of his hand FUMBLE! Tim Dobbins recovers and CHARGERS WIN! Not so fast says Ed "Guns" Hochuli (head referee of the game).

He ruled it an incomplete pass and after review all he could do was put the ball back at the 10 yd line and Denver keeps possession. WHAT! That is the most insane thing I have ever heard. Then a little box pops up on my screen "Yes, Delete or No, Keep", my DVR didn't get the whole game even though I set it to record 30 min over! So I don't get to see the Broncos score a touchdown and 2 point conversion, using the same play twice! We lost 39-38.

Yes, as a Charger fan, I'm pissed that Hochuli blew the call, but I'm more pissed at our defense because we still had 2 chances to put that game away. I knew I didn't like it when we were the pre season faves to go to the Super Bowl. Come on Chargers, let's get a win and LT, start doing something!
