So I'm watching Eyewitness news last night and this ridiculous story comes up. It's about the city of Glendale spending 5 million dollars to upgrade their railroad crossings. Is it just me or is this the worst possible way of spending money we don't have at the moment? How about spending some of that 5 mil to save a few teachers from being axed? I have a few friends that don't know whether they are coming back next year because of all the cuts going on. But good ol' Glendale thinks that we should have pedestrian gates so people can know not to cross when a train is coming. Are you kidding me?? If you're not smart enough to know to not cross when a bell is ringing and a bunch of lights are blinking, then yeah go ahead and step on to the track and earn that Darwin Award. Now, I'm all for being safe and alerting drivers and pedestrians that a train is coming, but aren't the crossings we have in place now good enough? I just think there are better ways of spending this cash. Why don't we put bumpers on all the freeways or instead of concrete sidewalks, let's make them out of foam so we don't get hurt? Although I wouldn't be surprised if Glendale actually does those things.

That is all.

Oh California, never ceases to amaze me! Meanwhile, effective immediately: the new California Withholding Tables are in effect, so you will see in increase in your California Income Tax Witholding beginning with our next paycheck... because the money for this misspending has to come from someone's pocket! :(
